Welcome

Dear colleague,

Some days have elapsed since we finalized The Deep-Sea and Sub-Seafloor Frontiers Conference in Sitges. We would like to thank you for participating.

The Conference reached a level well above the initial expectations and your active involvement has made a very important contribution to this. The Conference will beyond any doubt help to the development of deep-sea and sub-seafloor research in the near future. We had 260 participants from over 26 countries and the span and quality of research discussed was impressive.

We are also pleased to inform you that you could download the group photo from the Conference web page (go to "Picture" on the left column). The Conference web page will be available until the end of July this year.
If you have any specific comments on the Conference, please do not hesitate to contact us directly ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

Please be aware that Springer Scientific Publishers offered to publish a Conference Proceedings book with appx. 30-40 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Would you like to turn your Sitges presentation into a manuscript, or have other quality research results ready for publication and suitable under the DS3F umbrella, please consider to contribute to this book. You should inform Achim Kopf ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you plan to submit a manuscript and what its title will be.

The preliminary timeline is: paper submission starts: April 15th; paper submission deadline: June 30th; completion of review and revision process: October 31st. The book will be published by the end of 2012, and a "best of" selection of the papers could also appear as a special issue of Geo-Marine Letters.

Once again, many thanks for your participation.

Best wishes,

Achim Kopf (DS3F Coordinator)
Miquel Canals (Local organizer)
